Research interests: Sustainable regional development and the social impacts of economic change, especially natural resource and agricultural development, on small towns, indigenous communities, and rural regions in developed countries.

Research interests: The economics of nonprofit sectors. This includes regulatory oversight of nonprofit sector, endowment funding, comparative nonprofit/for-profit outcomes performance, rural philanthropy and economic development.

Research interests: Workforce development policy and labor market institutions; poverty and social policy; nonprofit economics and nonprofit labor markets.

Research interests: Environmental planning, land-use issues and collaborative planning and management. Other interests include environmental management, decision making and implementation and evaluation processes.

Research interests: The use of GIS personal digital assistants (PDA) for understanding walkability of the built environment, safe routes to school for children and public participation through the use of GIS.

Research interests: Environmental planning, sustainable design, land-use planning, growth management, housing and residential quality, and feminist study of the built environment.



Robert YoungRobert Young 
Assistant Professor
Research interests: environmental and economic policy and planning, specifically the role that governance networks can have in advancing the development of more sustainable urban regions; and environmental policy and planning history, specifically innovations in urban environmental theory and implementation from the 19th century to the present.
