PPPM Student Advisory Committee (SAC)
Jean Stockard initiated the PPPM Student Advisory Council (SAC) in 2005 to give students an institutionalized method of feedback within the PPPM department. The SAC also acts as a formal liaison between the student body and the PPPM faculty and staff. Led by students, the SAC strives to help other students with mentoring, internship issues, and multidisciplinary curriculum questions. Now an ASUO-recognized student group, the SAC has continued to swing its mighty sword of influence. SAC members have worked with Megan Smith to make sure PPPM interests are well represented at the April 26th Career Fair in Portland. Kate Alexander and Megan Smith collaborated on institutionalizing the PPPM mentoring program that matches undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni in a powerful network. Additionally, students have been working with Department Head, Rich Margerum, to develop a student feedback survey to proactively address classes, preferences and desires. As always, the SAC is seeking more creative opportunities for the student body to delve into interesting frivolities and well-intentioned mischief-making.
Who can join the SAC? Per ASUO guidelines, any fee-paying UO student is eligible to join. Further information about the SAC may be found by telephoning the PPPM department office at 346-3635, and look for the SAC website linked to the PPPM website, coming soon! The SAC's Mission Statement:
To provide a forum for student governance and engagement within the PPPM Department and beyond. The SAC's Goals:
Student Issues:
Should any student taking classes within the PPPM Department feel they have an issue they would like to address but are hesitant to raise themselves, the SAC has agreed to raise the issue on their behalf with the PPPM Department Head. This opportunity is designed for two primary reasons: To give students an avenue to provide feedback about departmental issues in an anonymous manner, and allow feedback about classes before the end of the term when the University’s official feedback forms are distributed. Should a student have an issue they would like help with, please contact one of the members of the Council of Elders listed below.
