Planning Your Internship | Current Internships | Recurring Internships | Fellowships | International Internships | Internship & Job Resources | Posting an Internship

Welcome to the Internship Program, an integral component of the Planning, Public Policy and Management curriculum.  Internships offer students opportunities to explore and clarify career goals, apply academic learning, enhance and learn new skills, gain experience, and network with professionals.

Planning is the key to maximizing the benefits of an internship. Students are encouraged to research a range of potential opportunities and identify specific internships that best match their career interests.  With assistance from the Internship Director and Internship GTF, students develop individualized learning goals.  In collaboration with the site supervisor, students outline substantive tasks and responsibilities that support their learning goals.  Students who achieve their learning goals acquire a set of transferable skills and real-world experience that prepares them for fellowships, professional positions, or further academic study.

Students have completed a wide range of internships and have been selected for prestigious fellowships following graduation.  In 2008, an undergraduate student was one of 20 fellows selected from 400 applicants for the inaugural class of City Hall Fellows, a one-year program dedicated to developing future leaders in city government.  Three graduate students were selected as Presidential Management Fellows and accepted appointments in Washington, D.C. and California.
