April 2: First Thursday Planners' Forum: "Infill Development: completing the neighborhood fabric without tearing it" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.

April 15: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Greening the Campus" with Steve Mital, Sustainability Director for the University of Oregon.

April 22: "Perfect Your Grant Writing Skills with Virginia Nafus" hosted by the Oregon chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals student group.

April 22: PPPM Lecture Series: "Are Food Deserts Localized or Dispersed?: food access in Portland, Oregon" with PPPM Assistant Professor Laura Leete.

April 27: Leadership and Change Lecture Series features Cam Hamilton, Business Development Director of the McKinstry Company. Hosted by the class of PPPM 494 Practice of Leadership and Change.

April 29: "Bicycle Appreciation Day" co-sponsored by Live/Move student group, UO Outdoor Program and UO Survival Center.

April 29: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Transportation Planning and Automobile Dependence: historical reflections" with Brian Ladd, PhD., Carroll Visiting Professor of Urban Studies with the Department of History, University of Oregon.

May 6: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Stranger, Informant, Advisor: working with consultants in public planning" withTina Rinaldi, Program Manager for the Arts and Administration program, University of Oregon.

May 8: Environmental Professors Speaker Series: "The Collision Between Native Sacred Sites and Land Use Laws" with Religion and Ecology Professor John Baumann, hosted by Environmental Policymakers and Planners (EPP) and Live/Move student groups.

May 14: First (Second) Thursday Planners' Forum: "Regional Planning: what it takes to make it work" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.

May 16: "SustainaBALL 2009: public transportation, creative reuse, and the procession of all species" hosted by the  PPPM Student Advisory Committee (SAC)

May 20: PPPM Lecture Series: "Main Street Power Generation for Oregon" with Jennifer Gleason, Staff Attorney with the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) and UO Adjunct Instructor.

May 27: PPPM Lecture Series: "Oregon 2020, The Residential University Initiative" with Robin H. Holmes, Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Oregon.

May 29: PPPM Annual Spring Symposium:  "Deliberative Democracy: building public will for action on critical problems".

May 29: PPPM Lecture Series: "Renewables from the Perspective of Big Oil: BP's investment in solar and other renewables" with Kristine Whiteman, Chief of Staff for BP Solar.

Winter 2009

January 7: PPPM Lecture Series: "PPPM Internships: tales from the field" with current and past PPPM students and their internship experiences.

January 8: First Thursday Planners' Forum: "Pedestrian Oriented Design" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.

January 16: PPPM Lecture Series: "Performance Measurement and Management in the Public and Nonprofit Sector" with Emanuele Vendramini of SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy.

January 21: PPPM Lecture Series: "The LEADER-Program in Finland: a bottom up view of a bottom up method for rural development and democracy in Europe" with Peter Backa, LEADER Program Coordinator.

January 28: PPPM Lecture Series:  "The Challenges and Rewards of Working in the Public and Nonprofit Sectors" with PPPM alumna Jackie Mikalonis, Executive Director of the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic.

February 4: the Oregon chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals student group will participate in a Focus Group with ShelterCare.

February 4:  "Resume Writing: a workshop for PPPM undergraduates" presented by Internship Director Rhonda Smith.

February 4: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Executive Level Public Service" with Stan Biles, Principal Consultant of Management Solutions.

February 6: Environmental Professors Speaker Series: "Creating the New Society: planning and policy in an era of transition" with PPPM Assistant Professor Robert Young. Hosted by Enviornmental Policymakers and Planners (EPP) and Live/Move student groups.

February 5: First Thursday Planners' Forum: "Form-Based Code: picture smart development" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.

February 10: "Planning Your Internship: a workshop for PPPM undergraduates" presented by Internship Director Rhonda Smith.

February 11: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Creating Cultural Change Within a Nonprofit" with PPPM alumna Cynthia Pappas, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon.

February 18: The Sustainable Cities Initiative:  "Fringe Urbanism: smart growth potential in an overlooked suburban multifamily typology" with Nico Larco, AIA, Assistant Professor in Architecture and Associate Director of the Sustainable Cities Initiative, University of Oregon.

February 20: "Good Grant Proposal Ingredients from the Community Fund Perspective" with Shelley Hanson, Director of the Spirit Mountain Community Fund, hosted by the Oregon chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals student group.

February 25:  "Bicycle Appreciation Day" co-sponsored by Live/Move student group, OP Bike Loan Program and the UO Survival Center.

February 25: PPPM Lecture Series: "Politics of Public Service" with UO alumna Phyllis Loobey, Former General Manager of Lane Transit District (LTD).

March 4: PPPM Lecture Series:  "Economic Impact of Renewable Energy" with Yoshi Akamatsu, Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

March 5: "Cycling Colombia and Venezuela" with Willie Weir, co-sponsored by Live/Move student group, UO Outdoor Program and US Bank.

March 5: First Thursday Planners' Forum: "Essential Skills and Resources for Planners" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.

March 11: PPPM Lecture Series: "Social Movements and Immigration" with Dan Tichenor, Senior Faculty Fellow at the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics and Philip H. Knight Professor of Social Science.

March 12:  "PPPM 199 American Philanthropy Awards 2009" presented by the PPPM 199 American Philanthropy class.

March 13: Environmental Professors Speaker Series: "'Green' Plastics--Can it be?" with Chemistry Professor David Tyler. 

Fall 2008

October 16:  First Thursday Planners' Forum first meeting with students and professionals of the Eugene-Springfield area and other cities nearby.

October 29:  PPPM Lecture Series: "Complete Streets and Participatory GIS" with PPPM Associate Professor Marc Schlossberg.

November 19: PPPM Lecture Series: "The Oregon Fellowships" with George Beard of the Executive Leadership Institute, Mark O Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University.

November 21:  Environmental Professors Speaker Series: "The Climate Crisis and Law" with Mary Wood, Philip H. Knight Law Professor.

December 4: First Thursday Planners' Forum:  "Habitat for People: natural resources planning in urban areas" hosted by Community Oriented-Oregon Planners (CO-OP) student and professionals group.
