A&AA and PPPM Funding Opportunities

The Gregory R. Pulliam Student Assistance Award supports undergraduate students in PPPM and is to help offset expenses directly relating to research or an internship opportunity. Expenses may include travel, books, supplies, materials, tuition, fees, or conference-related fees/travel. Preference may be given to students whose research or internship opportunity is in the area of community development. Primary selection criteria is academic performance/merit. 
Announced: typically spring term for summer award

The Kantor Family Internship Fund supports enrolled PPPM majors and students pursuing MPA, MNM, and MCRP degrees who are selected for internships involved with energy issues in Oregon. The award may be used to help fund internship-related expenses including travel, supplies, materials, tuition and student fees, and living expenses. While financial need may be taken into consideration in making the award, the primary selection criteria shall be based upon previous academic performance and the merits of the student's intended internship plans.

The PPPM Public Service Award is intended to off-set some of the costs of an unpaid, public service-focused internship.  The award is open to PPPM undergraduate majors and graduate students pursuing a master's degree.  Eligible internships (minimum of 18 hours/week during a 10-week term) must be in the nonprofit or public sectors and clearly support a student's career goals.  Funds may be used for travel, living expenses, transportation, and tuition and fees.  Funds will be placed in award recipients' UO student accounts.

UO Alumni National Capital Chapter
A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a UO student who has an unpaid internship in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Scholarship funds may be used for travel and living expenses.  Link updated when announcement is posted.

UO Alumni New York Chapter
A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a UO student who has an unpaid internship in the New York City metro area. Scholarship funds may be used for travel and living expenses.  Link updated when announcement is posted.

Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership
Scholarships for unpaid public service internships ($3500).
Undergraduate and graduate students
Deadline:  typically early February

Freeman Internship Fellowships
Up to $6,000 to offset costs of internships in East/Southeast Asia.
Undergraduate and graduate students
Deadlines:  typically December, February, and April

J. W. Saxe Memorial Fund
A $2,000 award for students who accept a low-pay job or internship in public service.
Undergraduate and graduate students
Deadline:  typically mid-March

National Grid
A $15,000 award for a self-initiated public service project to be completed anywhere in the world.
Graduating seniors only
Deadline:  typically January

Animal Welfare Trust
Up to $5,000 to fund independent research or unpaid internship within guidelines.
Must be graduate student at time of application

Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship
Awards of $1,000-$4,000 to fund independent internship. Preference given to students who have had minimal travel abroad opportunities.
Must be 18-25 years old and a student
