A&AA student research wide-ranging at Graduate Research Forum
More than a dozen A&AA students presented a broad range of work at the recent Graduate Research Forum held at the Ford Alumni Center, with architecture students Annie Chiang, Ryan Dirks, Lindsay Rasmussen, Eric Schmidt, and Ashly Tuffo winning a prize for their poster, "An Energy Analysis of The Stellar Apartments."
UO student team honored in Urban Land Institute competition
Architecture students Roxanne Robles, Gilberto Villalobos, and Omar Hason, landscape architecture student Andrew Jepson-Sullivan, and PPPM students Nestor Guevara and Evelyn Perdomo received an honorable mention in the 2015 Hines/Urban Land Institute design competition for their project titled "Urban Groves." Their project was one of only twelve that received awards out of 120 submissions from sixty universities in the U.S. and Canada.
Recruitment Fair brings together 23 firms, 250 students
Twenty-three firms looking to hire A&AA graduates participated in the three-day 2015 Recruitment Fair sponsored by the Office of Professional Outreach and Development for Students (PODS) in Lawrence Hall recently. Recruiters concluded the event by holding interviews with more than forty students. “We anticipate many students landed jobs and summer internships,” said Kassia Dellabough, director of PODS.
Minnesota to host SCI conference this year
The Sustainable Cities Initiative (SCI) will hold a three-day conference April 12-14 for university representatives, city officials, and organizational partners who are interested in adopting and adapting the Sustainable City Year Program (SCYP) model to their home institutions and community contexts.
PPPM faculty member, student honored with MLK Jr. awards
Assistant Professor Gerardo Sandoval and graduate student Lok Yee Au have been honored with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards, presented by the University of Oregon. Sandoval was recognized for his work as a faculty member in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management, while Au won for her essay written for a class taught by Sandoval.
PPPM’s Schlossberg wins rare second Fulbright
Professor Marc Schlossberg has been awarded a rare second Fulbright Scholarship, this time to work with faculty at Technion–Israel Institute of Technology, where he will collaborate with colleagues in the institute’s Department of Architecture and Town Planning.
Sustainable Cities Initiative has been awarded the Ashoka U-Cordes Innovation Award
The University of Oregon’s Sustainable Cities Initiative (SCI) has just been awarded the Ashoka U-Cordes Innovation Award that recognizes top educational approaches in social entrepreneurship within higher education.
