UO hosts conference kickoff tonight, May 21, in alumni center

A&AA Dean Frances BronetThe City of Eugene and the University of Oregon welcome the 2014 Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) conference to Eugene this evening, Wednesday, May 21. A&AA Dean Frances Bronet will give opening remarks at 6 p.m. at the Ford Alumni Center. Nearly 600 attendees have registered from as far away as the Netherlands and Japan to learn about building and strengthening neighborhood organizations. In partnership with the UO Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management and the Oregon Humanities Center, conference keynote speaker Julian Agyeman will speak on the UO campus Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in 282 Lillis Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The presentation by Agyeman, an environmental social scientist from Tufts University, will be live-streamed at tinyurl.com/kaupuuh. Other PPPM participation in the conference include presentations by Assistant Professor Gerardo Sandoval, landscape architecture graduate student Joel Grogan, Sustainable Cities Initiative Director Marc Schlossberg, Community Service Center Directors Robert Parker and Megan Smith, and Community Planning Workshop Director Bethany Steiner.
