Researchers in PPPM have been studying the role of entrepreneurial incubators, philanthropy in social enterprise, and scientific collaboration. More specifically, we have examined the role of incubators and accelerators in stimulating early stage entrepreneurship, the role of grant funding and philanthropy in developing business models that address large scale social problems, and the commercialization of scientific research. We have also extensively studied the financing scientific R&D at the federal level, and how external financing to university researchers shapes collaborative behavior of academic scientists.
